How it all began
This autumn, blogfoster celebrates its third birthday and we would like to thank all of you who have join us on this trip. At the end of 2013, we launched a simple way for bloggers to earn money with their blogs. The starting point was our blogfoster Adstore, which offered a simple way to drag and drop banners into the blog. Since the beginning of 2015, blogfoster has been offering a number of sponsored posts, and this year we have launched a completely new system.
What will become of banner advertising?
Over the last few months, we have been receiving the feedback from bloggers and their readers that banners are still a way to earn money on the blog, but certainly not the best. Banners were the first and logical step for us to offer a monetisation option for blogs, but we see how the interest in many bloggers is decreasing. This means that we will shut down the banner store as of 31.12.2016 and will put our development power on more attractive options to monetise your influence power.
What will be the alternatives?
We suspect that this may be an unexpected step for you, and you are wondering how you can sustain these revenues in the future. These are the alternatives:
- More Sponsored Posts and new channels: 90% of all bloggers at blogfoster, who regularly generate revenue, get this with the help of their blog posts. On Instagram, facebook, and twitter, they are usually only shared. But already this year, we will start offering independent campaigns for your social channels. We will not reveal which channel this will be at this point. You will have the chance to open several new monetisation channels.
- New pricing with Sponsored Posts: From the new year onwards, we will introduce a new pricing model for our sponsored posts. The current model is completely adjusted and we will introduce further price levels, for blogs under 10,000 and over 75,000 pageviews per month.
What do you have to do now?
First thing, nothing. You can take part in all campaigns as usual by December 31st, and turn off the banner on your blog automatically at the end of the year. You can then remove the banner codes from the page. The codes are completely emptied so that it will have little effect on the loading speed of the website. We will inform you about this again via email.
The income you will receive up to the end of December will, of course, be fully paid out in January.
We are looking forward to your feedback and hope to be able to work with you on many new posts, on your blog and on your social channels. Of course, then with the new pricing 🙂
