When you think about starting a parenting blog, you will get to the point where you need to decide if you want to share photos of your kids on social media and on your blog. This is a decision you have to make as parents, and no one can make the decision for you. There is certainly no right or wrong answer, but you should still take some things into consideration when it comes to whether or not to show your children on your blog.
Is it bad to show your kids on your blog?
As a blogger, you want to share your life and your experiences on your blog. Your readers won’t judge on whether or not it is ok to show your children’s photos on the internet. You should still be aware of what you are doing though.
Be careful with the information you give
When you decide to show photos of your children on your blog, it is important that they cannot be put together with other sensitive information, such as your address. When there are recognizable areas or buildings in the picture you should also be careful, and your children’s daycare or school should not be available information.
Let your kids decide one day
We know that it feels like it will be a long time until your children grow up, but like everyone else they will go through puberty as well. If there are embarrassing photos of your kids on the internet, it can possibly lead to bullying later on. Let your children decide on their own which pictures they want to have online when they are old enough.
Find a compromise: show photos without a face
One option for you would be to take photos without the face being visible like notanothermummyblog does. There are great ways to share your moments on your blog without making your kids recognizable.
We can’t look into the future!
The internet and social media is something that has not been around for too long. There are new updates and functions popping up all the time – it is a medium that is too young and too mighty to be controlled by us. You should, therefore, keep in mind that most content, and photos of your children, will probably be saved on some servers for a lifetime even though you might have deleted them later on.
